A woman in her 30s has died after being attacked by a pet dog in Coventry, West Midlands Police have said. Officers were called to a property on Wexford Road at around 12.15pm today following a report of a dog attack.
The force said the woman was treated at the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service, “but despite their best efforts she sadly died a short time later”.
“The family of the woman have been informed and our thoughts remain with them following today’s tragedy,” the force added.
The dog has been seized, and the death has been reported to the coroner for further enquiries. Police have said they do not believe it to be a banned breed of dog.
