A child and an adult have reportedly been killed during a knife attack in Germany, according to local media.
Several others were injured in the attack, which took place at around 11:45am local time at Schöntal Park in the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg, BILD reports. The suspect was arrested immediately at the scene, police said.
Following the attack, police reassured locals that “there is no danger to the public” and urged them to “refrain from speculation.”
“There are no indications of other suspects,” police said. Authorities are calling on witnesses to come forward either via phone or by visiting a police station.
“We ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the police emergency number 110 or a police station,” police said in a statement. “We are currently preparing a portal that you can use to send us your relevant pictures and videos. As soon as it is available, we will publish the associated link.”
