Explosions have been heard as a bomb squad continues to deal with a suspicious package on a residential street.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it was dealing with a “suspicious package” on Park Road in Lenton. Officers were initially alerted to an incident earlier today at around 2pm.
Bystanders assembled outside the nearby Tesco Express screamed as explosions went off.
Police proceeded to evacuate residents from the surrounding area. A police drone remains in the sky above the property where all the activity now appears to have moved to.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “This is an ongoing incident and we’re dealing with it as a major incident, alongside other emergency services, and will be providing further regular updates on our website and social media.”
